I just bought both a mini lathe and a larger Jet lathe. Never thought I'd want to turn wood…but I do! Your video breaks it down for me to understand. I don't have carbide tools tho….I have two nice sets of regular tools. Show me how to use them??

I'm a woodworker going on 3 or 4 years now. The one thing I haven't done yet is turning. I'm surprised I've gone this far in the hobby without giving it a shot. Well, my neighbor recently passed and his widow asked if I'd like to take a look at his tools. I had no idea he was a woodworker! I walk in and there sat a JET 16X42 EVS lathe. I bought it of course! I've been watching videos for a few days trying to get an idea of what I need and how to proceed. This is BY FAR the best beginning lathe/turning video I've found! Sometimes people forget that for those of us starting out we really don't know anything at all. Thanks for going over the lathe, how it works and the centers on either side. She couldn't find the centers and I wasn't sure which type to buy. I know how to get started now. Thanks!

Well , I'm new to this – inherited an old lathe . Many years of hard work but it still runs like a new one – your video was a HUGE help !!! Thank you Leah !!! You've lit the fire – now I'm gonna run with it .

Chris Bolin says:

You are awesome. Thank you so much. I've never done this before, so it's great to hear from someone who can help me not kill myself. Lol. Thanks again.

Hello there:-) I picked up a rather old lathe/combo machine. It's a shopsmith 10er. Beautiful condition. So I was glancing through some instructional videos on it and yours came up. I know how to use a lathe already so I just watched for the heck of it but I have to say, I really enjoyed that. Too many people are turning away from trades in every capacity. You are very informative and have an excellent personality for teaching in general. I'm going to be watching more for sure
