I couldn't figure out what in the world I was doing wrong when flush trimming curves in natural wood until this video. I tried angle of approach, feed rate, etc… and I always got chip out or near total destruction of a good piece. Thanks a bunch for the info!

The guy stopped the video before he got to the end of the end grain cut. This is where you get chip out and he did not show it. He could have shown the climb cut going backwards into this end. Plus he could introduce the pin in the table

When I'm using my pattern bit I'm getting a initial kickback when easing the wood into the bit. The bearing is on bottom of the bit also it's not a compression bit so I be using a compression bit for all my pattern bits?
